Combined Blepharoplasty
Combined blepharoplasty treats the upper and lower eyelids in a single procedure. At Celikkaya Clinic in Cyprus, Dr Kemal Celikkaya, a German board-certified plastic surgeon and UK GMC-registered doctor, performs both parts in one session, so the whole eye area is rejuvenated with a single recovery rather than two.

What Combined Blepharoplasty Treats
Ageing rarely affects just the upper or just the lower eyelid, so many people have concerns above and below the eye at the same time. On the upper lid, skin loses elasticity and forms excess folds that make the eyes look tired or, in more advanced cases, hang low enough to affect the upper field of vision. On the lower lid, the fat pads that cushion the eye push forward to create bags and puffiness, and the skin begins to crease. Combined blepharoplasty deals with all of this in one operation: removing excess upper eyelid skin, removing or repositioning the fat that causes lower lid bags, and trimming loose skin where needed, for a more rested and balanced result across the whole eye.
The Procedure and Recovery
Combined blepharoplasty at Celikkaya Clinic is a day-case procedure, so you return home the same day. The upper eyelid incision is placed within the natural crease so it heals discreetly, and the lower eyelid is treated either from inside the lid, which leaves no external scar, or through a fine incision just below the lash line where skin also needs to be removed. Because both eyelids are treated together, there is a single recovery period rather than two. Some bruising and swelling are normal in the first week or two and settle gradually. As with any eyelid surgery, patients are asked to stop blood thinners three weeks beforehand and to cut back on smoking in the two to three weeks before surgery, and there is no strict upper age limit. Because the surgery removes or repositions the tissue directly rather than masking it, the results are long-lasting, unlike temporary treatments such as fillers or Botox.
